BGSU Online degrees recognized among the nation's best in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Online Programs rankings
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Committed to meeting students where they are, Bowling Green State University is being recognized for its quality and flexible online degree programs in U.S. News & World Report's 2024 Best Online Programs rankings.
Through BGSU Online, several of the University's undergraduate and graduate degree programs climbed to higher rankings for 2024, taking top honors for the state of Ohio and in the nation.
Overall, BGSU online bachelor degrees are ranked No. 2 in Ohio and No. 57 nationally, highlighting the University's dedication to offering in-demand academic programs that meet workforce needs.
As the No. 1 university in the Midwest for veterans and military students, the University's online bachelor's programs for veterans retained their No. 1 status statewide while improving to No. 39 nationally. Additionally, U.S. News & World Report ranked the BGSU Online MBA program No. 4 in Ohio and No. 76 in the nation for veterans.

Criminal justice
In addition to earning high marks for undergraduate degrees, many of the University's online graduate programs garnered top spots for 2024, including the online master's in criminal justice, which ranks No. 2 in Ohio, No. 3 in the Midwest and No. 15 of any program nationally.
The BGSU Master of Science in Criminal Justice prepares students for leadership positions in various law enforcement agencies and disciplines. The program's curriculum blends theory and research to inform effective responses and solutions to contemporary challenges facing the criminal justice system.
Business
Based in the Schmidthorst College of Business, the BGSU Online MBA program soared in this year's rankings to No. 6 in Ohio and No. 120 in the nation, up more than 40 spots nationally from 2023.
The AACSB-accredited BGSU Online MBA program equips students with comprehensive qualifications, skills and credentials needed to excel in an ever-evolving global marketplace. Through 100% online coursework, students learn from world-class faculty who provide an education of value that supports student success.
The BGSU Online MBA program is also ranked No. 1 in Ohio for 2024 based on the University's commitment to rigorous academic standards and student experience and employment outcomes, according to Poets&Quants.
Additionally, the University's collective master's degree offerings in business rank second best in Ohio and No. 77 in the nation. New for 2024, BGSU online graduate business programs rank No. 1 overall for student engagement, which examines the extent to which an online degree program enables students to effectively interact with instructors and classmates as they would in an on-campus environment.
Education
As one of Ohio's largest producers of K-12 teachers, the University's extensive master's degree options in education earned BGSU a No. 6 ranking in the state and No. 73 overall for 2024.
BGSU offers six online master's degrees in education, including four in special education, bolstering the University's highly regarded legacy as a quality teacher training institution.
Regardless of a student's location, BGSU Online programs offer the same quality degrees delivered by the same world-class faculty as the University's in-person programs. Classes are offered in flexible seven-week, 15-week and blended formats.
BGSU is the only university in Ohio and one of 10 nationally to earn the Quality Matters Online Learner Support certificate for all of its online programs, reflecting the high level of support and critical student and academic services BGSU Online provides.
Committed to keeping education accessible, BGSU is currently waiving application fees for domestic students who enroll in seven-week and 15-week online programs. Additionally, the University does not require the GRE or GMAT for applicants to online master’s degree and certificate programs.
