Starting in Fall 2025, Bowling Green State University will offer an in-state tuition pricing scholarship to new undergraduate students from Wayne County, Michigan, empowering learners from greater Detroit to attend the University at the same cost as Ohio residents.
As part of the scholarship, new, first-time and transfer students from Wayne County with a minimum 3.00 cumulative high school grade point average or 20 ACT or 1040 SAT score will receive $7,988 from BGSU to cover out-of-state fees. As part of The Falcon Tuition Guarantee, the scholarship will be locked in for up to four years at the No. 1 public university in Ohio for student learning experience and opportunities, and the No. 1 public university in the Midwest students said they would choose again.
The scholarship's expansion into metro Detroit comes after its initial launch in nearby Lenawee and Monroe counties in Fall 2022, where BGSU has experienced significant growth in students from southeast Michigan enrolling in high-demand programs like architecture, business, computer science, engineering, psychology and pre-professional programs.
"We are excited to continue our momentum in southeast Michigan by expanding this scholarship to Wayne County students," said Cecilia Castellano, vice president for enrollment management at BGSU. "With this expansion, more students from the Detroit area will be empowered to earn a BGSU degree and take part in our top-ranked student experience filled with comprehensive opportunities in one of America's safest college towns."
As part of its commitment to supporting student and workforce needs, BGSU invests in in-demand academic programs, particularly in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and healthcare. BGSU also offers its one-of-a-kind Life Design program, which equips students with the tools and connections to shape their college experience while supporting their life and career goals.
Prospective new, first-time and transfer students from Wayne County can apply for admission at BGSU.edu/apply.
