Kuhlin Career Hub honored for its holistic approach and dedication to excellence in student career services
Committed to preparing students for professional success, Bowling Green State University recently was recognized nationally for providing comprehensive career services and support for students throughout their academic journeys.
Integral to that mission is the uniquely designed Michael and Sara Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections, which was honored for its holistic approach and dedication to excellence in career services by The Career Leadership Collective, underscoring the University’s multi-faceted approach to preparing students for career and life.
The Kuhlin Career Hub is part of the University's groundbreaking Life Design program, which emphasizes using design thinking skills widely practiced in business to identify and solve challenges and complex problems. As the only university in the nation offering the program on a broad scale, BGSU students leverage skills learned through the program to align their interests with future career opportunities.
"We are honored to accept this prestigious award from The Career Leadership Collective," said Steve Russell, associate vice president for corporate partnerships and executive director of the Kuhlin Career Hub. "This recognition reaffirms our unwavering commitment to providing unparalleled career design support that empowers our students and uplifts our learning community. It serves as a testament to the dedication and passion of our entire team. While we celebrate this achievement, we also recognize there is more work to do.”
BGSU students and recent alumni frequently credit the Kuhlin Career Hub, located in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, with building their career confidence, expanding their professional networks and helping them launch successful, fulfilling careers after graduation.
Computer science major Noah Grimmer secured a paid internship at Nationwide Insurance from connections he formed during a Kuhlin Hub Career EXPO. Alumnus Tyler Dickard ‘23 shared a similar success story, landing a full-time role in information technology at Progressive Insurance after meeting with company representatives during an on-campus career event.
The Kuhlin Career Hub’s unique and comprehensive approach to connecting students to its robust network of industry professionals is one of the many examples of the University’s commitment to supporting student success and outcomes and a driving factor in its reputation for excellence as the No. 1 public university in Ohio for the student experience.
The University also recently launched the BGSU Partnership Recognition Program, which expands opportunities for research collaboration, experiential learning and infrastructure development between BGSU and corporate partners.
BGSU partners with regional and global companies across multiple sectors to leverage talent across disciplines, increase student access to opportunities and contribute to corporate partner growth and success.
For example, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation partners with BGSU to offer a one-of-a-kind Resort and Attraction Management degree program, while Nationwide’s relationship includes an engaged network of alumni within the company’s leadership team serving on advisory boards across various academic disciplines.
The Kuhlin Career Hub also connects with companies and alumni to benefit students with internships, co-ops and employment opportunities through the Falcon Professional Network.
