Another record-breaking One Day of giving
More than $1.5 million raised to support students through vital programs and scholarships
Bowling Green State University alumni and supporters have once again raised the bar with their generosity during this year's day of giving. BGSU One Day 2022 raised more than $1.5 million during the 36-hour online fundraising campaign held April 5-6.
The sixth annual event set a record, just one year after the 2021 event raised over $1.4 million, which shattered previous levels. Vice President for University Advancement Pam Conlin pointed to the impact of the Falcon community’s continued, enthusiastic support of One Day.
“BGSU One Day demonstrates the impact of community philanthropy which, through gifts large and small, collectively supports educational opportunities that change lives,” Conlin said. “This year’s effort, once again, reached new levels in the number of donors and dollars raised, supporting all areas of BGSU.”
This year, 2,864 donors made a gift in support of a program, college or area of interest. The result of this outpouring of support, according to Karen Rohr, assistant vice president for alumni engagement and annual giving, is to empower life-changing opportunities for students.
“We are tremendously grateful for the generosity of our Falcon community in support of BGSU One Day,” Rohr said. “Once again, our alumni, friends, parents, staff and faculty have come together to help move our University and students forward. One Day demonstrates that every gift, no matter the amount, has an immediate and meaningful impact on the programs and initiatives that directly benefit our students.”
Gifts supported a broad spectrum of needs in areas like professional development, experiential learning, research, learning communities, mental health resources, diversity and belonging initiatives, student organizations, athletics and club sports, student media, and each of the University's colleges and academic units, among many other programs.
Every gift was significant, and nowhere was that more apparent than with the 71 challenge and match opportunities that amplified every dollar. In addition, the 171 active ambassadors who participated were an integral part of this year's record-breaking performance.
“We sincerely appreciate the generosity of our Falcon family on One Day, and every day,” Conlin said. “Your gifts make a difference in the lives of our students and help ensure a bright future for Bowling Green State University.”
