BGSU faculty honored with excellence awards
Unfortunately, the 2020 Faculty Excellence Award ceremony was canceled this spring, but Bowling Green State University faculty remain committed to continually improving their teaching and research skills to improve student knowledge and contributions to their respective fields.
Faculty are continually recognized for their achievements in many categories. Professorships of Excellence are awarded in three categories: research, creative arts, and teaching. This year’s award recipients are as follows:
Research Excellence
Lubomir S. Popov, Ph.D., Family and Consumer Sciences
Creative Arts Excellence
Andrew J. Pelletier, Ph.D., Music Performance Studies
Teaching Excellence
Nancy C. Patterson, Ph.D., Teaching and Learning
Andreas Luescher, Ph.D., Built Environment
Sherry E. Sullivan, Ph.D., professor of management, was awarded Distinguished Research Professor.
The Elliot L. Blinn Award for Faculty-Undergraduate Student Innovative Basic Research/Creative Work was awarded to Matt Schumann, Ph.D., assistant teaching professor in the Department of History.
The Collaborative Research and Creative Work award was given to Hans K. Wildschutte, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.
The Outstanding Advising and Mentoring Program Award was presented to the Generation Falcon Program in the Office of Residence Life. Joshua Lawrie, Ph.D., director of Residence Life, accepted the award on behalf of the program.
The Academic Advising and Mentoring Excellence awards were given to:
- Gregory A. Rich, Ph.D., associate professor, Department of Marketing
- DeVona S. Smith, academic advisor, College of Arts and Sciences
- Richard M. Lofgren, academic advisor, College of Arts and Sciences
- Carrie M. Hamady, associate clinical professor, College of Health and Human Services
