BGSU's Master of Architecture professional degree receives NAAB accreditation
Program is one of five National Architectural Accreditation Board accredited programs in Ohio
Bowling Green State University’s Department of Architecture and Environmental Design in the School of the Built Environment is proud to announce the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB) accreditation of the Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) professional degree.
As one of five NAAB accredited programs in Ohio, BGSU graduates can now immediately pursue professional licensure. In 2019, the BGSU architecture program was recognized by DesignIntelligence (DI) as one of the “Top Ten Architecture Programs Most Hired From.”
“This accreditation reflects the strong architecture program at BGSU where our students are immersed in an interdisciplinary learning environment alongside construction management students," said Dr. Arsenio Rodrigues, director of the School of the Built Environment. "The curriculum combines design, technical and management education with two paid co-op experiences, which typically transition into full-time job opportunities upon graduation. BGSU students graduate knowing how to design and how to build their architectural visions.”
The Department of Architecture and Environmental Design currently offers a Bachelor of Science in architecture and a Master of Architecture. The program is housed in the newly founded School of the Built Environment, and offers a transformative experience for students who seek to engage in design-build innovation and the creation of exemplary places, structures and systems. The mission and core-values of the architecture program highlight the impact and significance of architectural practice on the user, the environment and the broader socio-economic context.
Small class sizes, optimum coupling of lectures and hands-on-experiences, dedicated faculty with extensive academic qualifications and professional experience, personal attention and mentorship, study abroad opportunities, active AIAS and NOMAS student organizations, and strong professional industry connections are only a few highlights of the experiences offered to students in the School of the Built Environment at BGSU.
With a focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, integrated design-build practice/collaboration, community outreach, environmental stewardship and global engagement, BGSU architecture graduates are uniquely poised and prepared to enter the work-force as entrepreneurs and leaders of the design profession.
