Rumor Alert
Rumors are circulating on social media that a number of women have been attacked by an unknown male in and around Lot 12 on our Bowling Green campus and in the city of Bowling Green. This is simply NOT TRUE. There have been NO assaults reported on our campus. A single incident was reported in the city.
On Nov. 11, a student reported that she was hit by someone and had her keys stolen from her at her off-campus apartment building. City of Bowling Green Police are investigating.
BGSU Police are investigating a report of a suspicious man near Offenhauer who made a comment about "waiting for someone to attack" to a student and her boyfriend.
These are the only two incidents that have been reported.
Please know that if we believe there is a threat to the community, BGSU Police will issue a timely warning. Additionally, we remind the community that security cameras are in place in Lot 12 and throughout the most traveled parts of campus.
BGSU Police offer the following safety tips:
- If you see a crime being committed, call 911 immediately.
- Try not to walk alone at night. Walk with another person or a group of people and be aware of your surroundings.
- Walking escorts are available on the Bowling Green campus between the hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. by calling 419-372-8360.
- Our free campus shuttle service or a taxi are good alternatives to walking alone.
