Drs. Mike McKay and George Bullerjahn, biology, are leading a team studying harmful algal blooms in Sandusky Bay. It’s part of an overall $2 million Lake Erie water quality initiative by the Ohio Board of Regents.

Drs. George Bullerjahn and Mike McKay, biology, are leading a team studying harmful algal blooms in Sandusky Bay. A special buoy with sensors attached was deployed in the bay July 1, 2015 to gather data, which will be uploaded by satellite link and sent directly to the team’s cell phones for real-time information.

BGSU students devote time volunteering during fall and spring breaks. Instead of spending their fall break at the beach or with family, some BGSU students traveled to Indianapolis and Detroit to do community service as part of BG Alternative Breaks (bGAB).

BGSU Firelands community was commemorating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 19, 2015 by participating the in the national “Day-of-Service”. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Challenge is an annual community service event that is open to all students, faculty, & staff at BGSU. The event engages over 700 volunteers and more than 45 community partners. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., volunteers serve on MLK, Jr. Day to make it “a day on, not a day off.”

Dr. Kurt Panter, geology, and Jenna Reindel will visit a place that few people will ever see in their lifetime. The senior from Maumee, who is majoring in geology, and Dr. Panter are part of a National Science Foundation-funded research trip going to Antarctica to study two remote volcanoes.

Brooke Pleger '15 won her third consecutive Mid-American Conference Championship in the hammer throw in the spring, breaking MAC Championship and overall MAC records in the process.

Former Bowling Green State University men's basketball standout Richaun Holmes was selected at pick No. 37 by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2015 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft. During his senior season at BGSU in 2014-15, Holmes was tabbed the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, earned a spot on the All-MAC First-Team and was named a 2014-15 NABC District 14 All-District First-Team selection. The 6-10 forward led the Falcons in scoring (14.7), rebounding (8.0), blocks (2.7) and minutes (28.8) per game, as well as in field goal percentage at 56.3 percent shooting on the year.

For over 75 years, the School of Art at Bowling Green State University has provided a nurturing environment, encouraging students to express their creative voice in a school where art is innovative, vibrant, and full of possibilities.

The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team celebrate a win over the University of Evansville Aces at the Stroh Center.

Bowling Green State University's Matt Johnson was named the 2015 Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year as well as the winner of the 34th Vern Smith Leadership Award. Johnson orchestrated one of the best seasons ever out of a quarterback in MAC history, passing for 4,465 yards and a MAC record 41 touchdowns. He led the Falcons to a 9-3 record through the regular season and BGSU's third consecutive MAC East Division title. The Orange and Brown had several impressive wins throughout the season, including road victories at Maryland and Purdue. The Falcons, behind Johnson's leadership and guidance, were the only team in the Football Bowl Subdivision to win six road games, and one of just 10 teams to go undefeated in road games.

The Bowling Green State University baseball program has a proud tradition of success, not only at the collegiate level but also at the professional level. Four former Falcons were active in professional baseball this past season, while several others are involved as parts of professional coaching staffs.

The hall inducts BGSU graduates or honorary degree holders who have achieved excellence in entrepreneurship and have demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit that inspires others.

In his May 2015 commencement address, Seshadri Tangutur '87 told students of his journey from his native India to Bowling Green and eventually to his engineering leadership role at technology giant Snapchat.

The Mid-American Conference announced Distinguished Scholar Athletes from 16 winter and spring sports during the 2014-15 academic season as 359 student-athletes were voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions representing the 'best of the best' from each sports Academic All-MAC Teams. For Bowling Green, 26 student-athletes were recognized (including those honored in multiple sports), including five who boast a 4.00 grade point average. Women's basketball's Deborah Hoekstra, gymnastics' Lauren Feely and Rachel Reis, softball's Emily McClelland and track and field's Natalie Sommerville all stand out with perfect GPA's.

By making the promise to wear the same grey dress for 30 days, 140 women in the BGSU Panhellenic community committed to raising awareness about the realities of sex trafficking and oppression that many women and children in the world are facing today.

Paige Arnold, a conservation biology graduate student, tends the monarch butterflies she is studying to determine the most beneficial types of nectar for the migrating species. Working with Dr. Helen Michaels, biology, and undergraduate Matthew Zach, Arnold's results may help guide conservation efforts.
