Bring it Home
Falcon Flames Peter ‘08 and Kristin ‘10 Winovich host festive pre-game party
Alumni across the country shared their Falcon spirit to cheer for the football team during the annual Battle of I-75 against the Toledo Rockets on Nov. 19, 2014. Falcon fans hosted watch parties in Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, San Diego, Atlanta, Columbus and Salt Lake City.
There was also a special pre-game party almost in the Rockets’ back yard at the Toledo home of Falcon Flames Peter ‘08 and Kristin ‘10 Winovich. The couple generously provided a memorable evening for almost 200 guests with a heated tent to guard against frosty temperatures, catering from local favorite Shorty’s Ribs, and enough orange lights to outshine the Glass Bowl.
“BGSU means so much to us,” said the Winovichs. “It is the place where we met, where we grew into adults, and where we owe our opportunities for success. You can't pay back, you can only pay forward and the tailgate party was a way to bring together alumni and inspire them to be involved as well. We are excited to host future events and to see how our fellow alumni might find ways to ‘pay it forward’ to a place that means so much to so many."
The party was one of the first Falcon events attended by BGSU’s new Assistant Vice President for Alumni and Annual Giving Becky Kocher.
“I was overwhelmed by the outpouring of goodwill shown to me at this event and by every alumnus that I have had the privilege to meet so far,” said Kocher. “I was told that BGSU was one of the friendliest universities, and it certainly is proving true. Having the Winovichs welcome me and so many other Falcons into their home is such a wonderful example of this gracious and caring attitude. With so many people willing to support BGSU with their time and activities such as this, I don’t think there is any limit to what we can accomplish.”
