Chef Jeff Henderson shares recipe of potential at BGSU
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Chef Jeff Henderson, who turned his life around to become a Food Network chef, is the featured speaker for the 2014 Ordinary People, Extraordinary Stories dinner event.
Henderson, who is an award-winning chef, motivational speaker and New York Times best-selling author, will speak Tuesday, Oct. 28 in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union as part of the speaker series hosted by the Bowling Green State University Libraries and its Advocates Board.
Henderson’s first book , the New York Times best seller “Cooked: From the Streets to the Stove,” relays his story from being convicted of drug trafficking and discovering his passion for cooking while in prison, to his journey into hospitality and restaurants which eventually led to The Chef Jeff Project on Food Network. The show documented his work in the kitchen with six at-risk young adults helping them to turn their lives around by putting them to work for his catering company.
He is slated to launch Flip My Food, a new syndicated television show this fall, where he will take family recipes and make them better and healthier. As part of his busy public speaking schedule, he shares his triumphant story of change and the power of potential. He uses reality-based education to inspire other to take charge of their lives.
The event, which is a fundraising event for the BGSU Libraries, will start at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner, followed by his presentation at 7:30. Tickets for the dinner and program are $50 per person.
After the presentation, Henderson will sign books, which will be available for sale by the University Bookstore at the event.
