Holland to speak on community engagement
The University community will have a further opportunity to hear from service-learning expert Dr. Barbara Holland this week addition to her 11:15 a.m. keynote address at Friday’s Teaching and Learning Fair.
She will discuss “The Strategic Importance of Community Engagement to the Future of Higher Education” from 9-11 a.m. on Thursday (Feb. 13) in 202B Bowen-Thompson Student Union. Her presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

Holland will make the case that a strategic and intentional commitment to community engagement is a powerful response to current and emerging change challenges for higher education.
A higher education researcher recognized internationally for her scholarship and expertise on organizational change in higher education with a focus on the institutionalization of community engagement, Holland will be on campus at the invitation of the Office of Service-Learning to share her expertise in organizing campus structures for community engagement. Among her many publications, she is author of the “Holland Matrix,” which has been widely adopted as an institutional planning tool.
