State of the Region Conference looks into economic future
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Economic experts and regional business and civic leaders will converge on Perrysburg April 9 for the State of Region Conference hosted by Bowling Green State University’s Center for Regional Development. About 300 representatives from the 27-county northwest sector of Ohio are expected to attend the event, slated from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hilton Garden Inn, 6165 Levis Commons Blvd.
The theme of the 10th annual meeting is “Waves of Change – Are You in Position?”
Dr. Michael Carroll, director of the regional center, will provide an overview of the economic landscape and a preview of what it might look like in the near future in his State of the Region Address, at 9:15 a.m.
Economic futurist Jeff Thredgold, president of Thredgold Economic Associates and former senior vice president and chief economist with KeyCorp, will give the keynote address at 11 a.m. A frequent guest on CNBC-TV business network and CNN, Thredgold is often quoted in national business publications such as The Wall Street Journal and Business Week and is a monthly contributor to Blue Chip Financial Forecasts.
At 10 a.m., Adam Bruns, managing editor of Site Selection magazine, will speak on “Understanding the Site Selection Environment,” along with Jonathan Gemmen, a location consultant with Austin Consulting.
Following check-in and a Continental breakfast from 8-9 a.m., BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey, an urban geographer by training, will give the opening welcome.
