Katrina Caldwell is BGSU’s top senior
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Katrina Caldwell of Hilliard is the 2009 Outstanding Senior at Bowling Green State University. The award was announced at Beyond BG, the senior farewell on April 27.
Caldwell, the daughter of Debbie Caldwell and Ron Caldwell, has been active on campus since she was named an Alumni Laureate Scholar as a freshman in 2005.
The interpersonal communication major carries a 3.82 grade point average and has earned numerous honors, including the Student Life Award, Outstanding Community Service Award and Greek of the Month Award in 2007, and the Emerging Female Leader of the Year Award in 2006. She has been on the dean’s list her entire collegiate career and is a member and leader of Alpha Phi sorority, the Student Alumni Connection and the Homecoming Student Steering Committee.
She also has been involved with Dance Marathon, helping raise more than $600,000 during the past four years. Most recently she served as assistant director of internal affairs, but also was dancer relations chair and a dancer. Caldwell, who plans to be a fundraiser or event planner for a children’s hospital, was influenced by her participation in Dance Marathon.
During her senior year, she has been coordinator of alumni scholarship and recruitment special programs, which included serving as co-chair of the Senior Celebration Gift Campaign. More than $4,000 has been raised in support of the University’s Sustaining Tomorrow’s Scholars Program.

The BGSU Student Alumni Connection coordinates the Outstanding Senior competition. Graduating seniors are nominated by their peers, and the top 10 candidates go through an extensive evaluation process. The Outstanding Senior is announced at Beyond BG festivities each year.
