Mock Trial Team finishes in top 10
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University’s Mock Trial Team won an eighth-place trophy at the National Championship Tournament April 4-6 in Minneapolis. More than 600 intercollegiate mock trial teams took part in the competition.
The Falcons lost only to the eventual national champion, the University of Maryland.
BGSU senior Allison Smith of Hamilton, a social work major, was one of only 10 All-American Attorneys selected from the 3,000 students participating as attorneys.
The BGSU team placed above many top colleges in the competition, including Yale, Stanford, Wisconsin, Columbia, Cornell, Northwestern, the Air Force Academy, Georgetown and UCLA.
“Except for three veterans, all members of the BGSU team were participating in Mock Trial for the first time this year, making their achievement all the more impressive,” said the team’s advisor, Dr. M. Neil Browne, Senior Scholar and Distinguished Teaching Professor Emeritus of economics. “In almost all instances, the top 30 teams are comprised of very veteran performers.”
