Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID)
Incarceration Snapshot
The Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) is the world’s longest running nationally representative household panel survey. In 2009, the PSID includes information on over 18,000 individuals from nearly 5,000 families. In addition to collecting information on topics such as employment, wages, income, wealth, marriage, fertility, and health behaviors, the PSID also gathers information on contact with the criminal justice system. More specifically, information on incidence & prevalence as well as the date of release for the most recent arrest are collected.
