Thompson scholarships teach the value of helping others
As part of their many ways of supporting BGSU and its students, alumni Robert and Ellen (Bowen) Thompson have created a unique scholarship program that addresses a variety of needs while offering significant financial assistance. The program incorporates regular, close interaction with advisors to monitor the students’ progress, as well as an important community service component.

Comedic actor got his start at BGSUWe were so excited to welcome back alumni to their home, Bowling Green State University. There were so many opportunities to meet old friends and make new acquaintances. This year, we unveiled a new event called Falconland, where alumni and community members were invited to explore 20 points of interest all around campus. Participants discovered aquatic life housed in the marine biology lab, and their bravery was tested on the rock climbing wall at the Student Recreation Center. They got an inside look of the human body with the virtual reality dissection and anatomy and watched glass, heat and air become art at our glass blowing studio before heading over for snacks at the interactive Teaching Kitchen. We also honored several graduates by celebrating a new class of the Academy of Distinguished Alumni, getting to know our 10 Under 10 Spotlight Panel and visiting with the Class of 1969. We ran a 5K, toasted alumni craft brewers and gathered at the Doyt to cheer on the football team. A fun time was had by all, and we’re already counting down the days until we see you next year. Ay Ziggy!
