Transferring Credits to BGSU

Are you wondering how many of your credits have transferred to your program at BGSU?

Our Transfer and Evaluation Team usually complete their evaluation for you within two weeks of your admission.  If you have not received a copy of your evaluation in your BGSU email account, our team may need more information from you.  Often, if you are transferring from a University outside of the United States, we need a syllabus and course description for each of your classes.  Have you submitted these items to our Transfer and Evaluation Office?

What is a Syllabus?  A syllabus is your guide to a course and what will be expected of you in the course. Generally it will include course policies, rules and regulations, required texts, and a schedule of assignments. A syllabus can tell you nearly everything you need to know about how a course will be run and what will be expected of you.  How do I find a syllabus for my university?   You may need to contact your professor if your course syllabi are not listed online on your university’s website or course catalog.

What is a Course Description? Course descriptions report information about a university or college's classes. They're published both in course catalogs that outline degree requirements and in course schedules that contain descriptions for all courses offered during a particular semester, quarter or year. These schedules also contain the course meeting times and the instructor or professor teaching each section.

Many schools offer this information online as an electronic document or directly through their website, along with or instead of printed catalogs. Course descriptions include information about available courses, such as:

• Name of the college or department offering the course.
• Semesters or quarters offered.
• Course name and number.
• Number of credits.
• Restrictions or prerequisites.
• Brief summary of topics covered in the class.

How do I find my course descriptions?  You may need to contact your registrar if your course descriptions are not listed online on your university’s website in the course catalog.
