We contribute billions to the economy in Ohio and improve the quality of life in the region and beyond through our research, creative activities, partnerships and community engagement.
Our Economic Impact
BGSU has a tremendous, positive economic impact locally, regionally and throughout the state, generating nearly five times more tax revenue than we receive. Our students, employees and visitors contribute to the local economies. Innovative faculty offer their expertise to support existing businesses and encourage investment and entrepreneurship.
The University also makes an impact far beyond northwest Ohio. BGSU alumni and researchers enrich communities across the globe. They advance technology, create profitable partnerships and share fresh perspectives that spur economic growth and so much more.

Redefining Student Success
BGSU prepares students for a career and for life. We are transforming undergraduate education through our innovative Life Design program. It’s a new approach to the college experience, and BGSU is doing it bigger than any other university. Students leave BGSU with more than a degree. They have the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their families, communities and professions – to drive public good.

BGSU is one of the only universities in the country to have career connectors – staff members at our Kuhlin Hub for Career Design and Connections who are focused solely on building relationships with external partners to create career opportunities for students.
The Community of Care initiative prioritizes well-being across campus and emphasizes the role all members of the campus community have in one another’s well-being. BGSU focuses on the whole student, not just academics.
When asked what makes BGSU so special, almost everyone says “its people.” As a place where all can belong, BGSU offers tremendous support and resources for students.
