Kick-down Door Stops on Non-Fire Rated Doors

The use and installation of kick-down door stops is permitted on non-fire rated doors only. Departments wishing to have a kick-down door stop mounted to a non-rated fire door are responsible for verifying the door is non-fire rated before filling out a work order with Campus Operations. Fire-rated doors contain an Underwriters’ Laboratories (UL) certification tag or sticker on the top or side of the door that states a specific fire rating. Questions on the fire rating status of a door can be directed to the University Architect. In all cases, Campus Operations, Campus Construction, and Environmental Health and Safety reserve the right to deny any request not in the best interest of BGSU. Fees for installation may apply.
