Finance Advisory Board
The Finance Advisory Board is comprised of successful alumni and friends of the Department of Finance. The Board draws upon their professional expertise to advise the Dean, Department Chair, and faculty on strategic planning, curricula, student mentorship, co-ops, job placement, career development, faculty engagement with industry, and alumni affairs. In addition, the Board promotes the Department by highlighting the achievements of faculty, students, and alumni in their professional network. The Board meets once or twice per year. Members are expected to attend meetings and be available to advise the Chair between meeting(s).

Experience:
Mr. Adams is a CPA and CFP, who recently retired after 31 years as the President/CEO of American Mutual Share Insurance Corporation (ASI), the nation’s only non-federal deposit insurer for state-chartered credit unions in 10 states, and of Excess Share Insurance Corporation (ESI), which currently operates in 33 states. Mr. Adams also spent 17 years as an adjunct professor at Franklin, Capital and Ashland Universities in Columbus, teaching corporate finance and investments at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Experience
John retired from the Atlanta office of Cantor Fitzgerald in 2018. He worked for 35 years in the capital markets helping institutional investors develop strategies to increase the risk-adjusted returns of their fixed income portfolios. Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald in 2005, John worked for Legg Mason Wood Walker and Wachovia Bank in Atlanta. He is also an author, and has written three investment management books and taught asset liability management at the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking from 1996 to 2000.

Tom is a BGSU Finance Graduate in May 2016, where he also was a member of the Varsity Men’s Ice Hockey Team. Upon graduating, he worked at SMBC for three years in leveraged finance in New York City. He later would go on to work at Aozora Bank for one year as a Credit Analyst investing in leveraged bank loans in New York City. Since July 2021, he has been working at Sachem Cove Partners, a hedge fund specializing in energy & natural resource investing in New York City. He received the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in July 2020.

Perry has over 23 years of professional investment experience, and now serves as the Principal and Owner of Grand Street Capital Management, L.L.C. (GSCM), a North Carolina registered investment advisory firm. Erin Crandall is Chief Financial Officer of The Shelly Company. Erin joined the company in May of 2022 following a successful tenure at Dana, Inc., a Tier 1 automotive supplier of propulsion and energy management solutions. She began her career at Dana in Enterprise Risk Management and progressed through roles of increasing responsibility in operational and corporate finance including: Investor Relations and strategic planning, Plant Controller, Treasury management, Group Controller, and Financial Planning and Analysis. Erin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mount Union and an MBA from Bowling Green State University.

For the past 15 years, Tim has been with Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Healthcare Banking, In this role, he works with hospital systems and healthcare providers on capital structure design and execution, revenue cycle optimization, and liquidity management. Tim is active in the community, serving on multiple Boards and Committees including: LifeCenter Organ Donor Network, Butler County Port Authority, Liberty Township Economic Development, and Hoxworth Blood Center.

Kyle joined Citi Group in September of 2020 in Tampa, FL as an ETF Fund Analyst in their ETF Operations group, a division of Citi’s Institutional Clients Group. Now, as an AVP with Citi’s ETF ops group, Kyle acts as the intermediary between ETF Issuers and Authorized Participant brokers on the primary market. He mainly oversee the ETF creation/ redemption process, Net Asset Value (NAV) performance, corporate action processing, fund rebalances, and Portfolio Composition File (PCF) Basket processing for next day market trading. In his current role, Kyle manages over a dozen equity and fixed income ETF funds. Prior to joining Citi, Kyle attended BGSU and graduated in May of 2020 from the SCoB Finance program. Kyle was also a member of the BGSU Student Managed Fund in the Fall of 2019.

Leo Svoboda joined Nationwide Investments in August of 2017, from Penso Advisors, a global macro hedge fund. At Nationwide Leo leads the team managing the Liquid Alternatives exposure for Nationwide's portfolios. This includes hedge fund strategies, equities, and emerging market debt instruments. Prior to joining Penso he was the head of the $4.5b Liquid Alternatives business at the UPS Group Trust. In this role Leo allocated the preponderance of the Trust’s hedge fund exposure. Leo also invested an opportunistic portfolio under the liquid alternatives umbrella.
In addition to his work in alternatives Leo served as interim Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, developed portfolio wide risk analytics, consulted on portfolio level asset allocation and hedging strategy, and served on the Trust’s investment committee. Leo is a CFA Charterholder and a certified FRM.
