College of Business Students Accepted for Prestigious Export Internship Program

Nine students from Bowling Green State University Schmidthorst College of Business and two graduate students from Tiffin University were recently accepted into the 2025 Ohio Export Internship Program (OEIP).
This prestigious program is managed by the Ohio Department of Development's Office of Export Assistance and International Engagement. Students enrolled in the program complete a comprehensive three-credit course designed to provide them with valuable hands-on experience. Throughout this course, they work closely with senior executives, gaining insights into the intricacies of export marketing and identifying new opportunities to expand into global markets. As part of the program, each student is paired with a small to medium-sized company through a paid internship throughout the summer semester. During this internship, they take on a consultant role, utilizing their academic knowledge and practical skills to assist the company in developing effective export strategies and establishing vital international connections. Ohio is recognized as one of the largest exporting states in the United States, making this program particularly relevant for students seeking to make an impact in the field of global trade. Previous participating companies include Worthington Industries, U.S. Bridge, and Davenport Aviation.
Program co-director Man Zhang said, "I'm so proud that BGSU hosts the Ohio Export Internship Program (OEIP) because it truly brings classroom learning to life. This program allows students to work directly with Ohio's small and medium-sized companies engaged in international business, applying what they've learned in class to real-world export challenges. It's amazing to see how much they grow both professionally and personally through these experiences, and it's exciting to know they're making a real impact on local businesses. Programs like this demonstrate how powerful hands-on learning can be—for our students and the entire community."
