Schmidthorst College of Business hosts inaugural Student Ambassador Success Conference
The Schmidthorst College of Business Student Ambassadors proudly hosted the inaugural Student Ambassador Success Conference from October 11 to 13.
This event ignited a remarkable journey, bringing together universities from across the U.S. and Canada to explore the benefits a student ambassador program can bring to their school. The weekend unfolded as an incredible opportunity for professional growth, networking, and unforgettable experiences.
Planning for the conference began in June when visionary executive board members—Jenna Hastings, Dillon Esper, Danielle Wood, Chloe Lloyd, Jack Cusenza, Zach Spenthoff, and Julianne Wallenhorst—approached Dean Percival with the compelling idea of uniting students and deans from diverse universities. After months of planning, securing sponsors, forming partnerships, and recruiting inspiring speakers and workshop leaders, the ambassador group was prepared to make their vision a reality.
Students and deans from the Barney School of Business – University of Hartford, Utah Tech University, Georgia Gwinnett College, Minnesota State University, North Dakota State University, University of Massachusetts Lowell, University of Nebraska at Kearney, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Weber State University, and Western Carolina University gathered in the Schmidthorst College of Business, eager to learn and connect.
Through engaging workshops led by passionate faculty and staff, students discovered essential skills and insights to launch successful university student ambassador programs. Key topics included networking strategies, creative problem-solving, effective communication, teamwork, recruitment strategies, and the art of collaboration. A panel of former Schmidthorst College of Business ambassadors shared their stories, illustrating how their experiences shaped their college journey and now their careers. BGSU Foundation Board member Jim Adams ’92 delivered an inspirational keynote speech, reflecting on his leadership journey and inspiring students with lessons on personal and professional development and the essence of effective leadership.
The Student Ambassador Success Conference enriched the participants' understanding of student ambassador programs and fostered connections and collaborations that will benefit all the universities involved for years to come.
