Remembering Chan Hahn
The Schmidthorst College of Business is mourning the loss of Dr. Chan Hahn. Hahn, who was personally and professionally beloved across Bowling Green State University, passed away on August 12, 2024.
Dr. Chan Hahn joined the BGSU College of Business faculty in 1970 as an assistant professor in management. He came to BGSU just after earning his Ph.D. in business administration from The Ohio State University that same year. During his time at BGSU, he was the chair of the Management Department from 1973 to 1986 and again from 1995 to 2000.
Dr. Hahn is a renowned national and international expert in his field. During his career, he authored over 80 publications in various national and international journals, many of which he was invited to lecture on at institutions worldwide. Dr. Hahn was a member of multiple focus committees on-campus and professional organizations off-campus and served in leadership positions for many academic publication groups and journals. After Dr. Hahn’s retirement in 2000, he was granted emeritus status at BGSU.
In 2022, the Chan Hahn Professorship in Supply Chain Management was created. This endowed professorship honors Dr. Chan Hahn, a well-respected advisor, career coach, and father figure to a generation of BGSU's supply chain and procurement operations students. Dr. Hahn's vision and hard work crafted the College of Business's Supply Chain Management program into what it is today.
