Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators: Entrepreneurship Week Flourishes at BGSU

The Schmidthorst College of Business and the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership recently held its 12th annual E-Week from April 10-12. The event was filled with inspiring activities and discussions, all focused on this year's theme: What does it mean to think like an entrepreneur?

Hall of Fame

The festivities kicked off with the Paul J. Hooker Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Hall of Fame dinner. The center inducted three new honorees for their accomplishments in the entrepreneurial field.

2024 Honorees: 

  • Dr. Rodney Heiligmann, president of LifeFormatins dba LF Studios
  • Thomas Kern, founder/chairman and retired CEO of Style Crest Enterprises Inc.
  • Vontoba Terry, co-founder of UI Global Brands LLC.

Each honoree took the stage to recount their success stories as entrepreneurs and the pivotal role BGSU played in their development. They shared their inspiring journeys, including the stories of their companies' inception and what inspired them to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.

Hall of Fame Inductee Panel

Day two was filled with inspiration. This year's Hall of Fame honorees were joined by past honorees for an inspiring panel focused on leveraging the entrepreneurial mindset. The panelists shared stories about their journeys to success and how they overcame challenges early on in their careers, leaving the audience inspired.

The Hatch 

16 student entrepreneurs, also known as Hatchlings, spent the entirety of the spring semester crafting their entrepreneurial ideas with the help of mentors to present live at this year’s Hatch. Seven of the 16 students took the stage to pitch their ideas to a live panel of distinguished judges. From comic books to a virtual platform that helps international students tour college campuses from anywhere in the world, the ideas were nothing short of amazing!

Student Entrepreneur Spring Market

The last day of E-Week invited student entrepreneurs from across campus to showcase their work to students, faculty and staff at the Spring Student Entrepreneur Market. The fair allowed students to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills, showcase their side hustles, and network with other entrepreneurs.
