Advising

College of Business

Student advising is offered through the Office of Undergraduate Student Development. Students are responsible for arranging advising appointments and for meeting all graduation requirements. To facilitate student planning, computerized degree audits are available to all students each year, indicating progress toward graduation requirements. The college's Web site, www.bgsu.edu/business.html, provides additional information and advice, and students may view their degree audits via the My BGSU web portal.

College office advisors
Student advising is offered in the college office by Undergraduate Student Development. Professional advisors are available to all College of Business students, students from other colleges, and prospective students. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) students who are undecided or specializing in general business are assigned to Undergraduate Student Development, but may also seek advising from department and program faculty.

Undergraduate Student Development advisors discuss career and educational goals, program requirements, and suitable courses. The advisors meet with high school students and students from other colleges and universities who are interested in transferring to the College of Business. Advisors are available for appointments throughout the calendar year (even when classes are not in session). Contact the college office for more information or to make an appointment (253 Business Administration, 419-372-2747).

Faculty mentors
College of Business students who have earned admission to the BSBA program and declared an area of specialization other than individualized business or have declared the bachelor of science in economics program are assigned a faculty mentor in the student's specialization or in economics. Students meet with faculty mentors to discuss degree and specialization requirements, careers, internships, job opportunities, and student organizations.

Academic appeals
Business administration students who want to appeal for exceptions to academic requirements, policies, or procedures may submit a written appeal to the college's Board of Appeals. For further information, contact Undergraduate Student Development (253 Business Administration, 419-372-2747).

For information concerning grade appeals, see Grading Policies.
