Intervention Specialist

This is a highly competitive program that requires meeting additional admission criteria. Consult Student and Academic Services, 102 Education, for more information. A graduate completing an Intervention Specialist education major is eligible for an Intervention Specialist license in two areas: Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist K-12 and Moderate to Intensive Intervention Specialist K-12. This is providing that he or she has successfully completed the appropriate Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) examinations. You must possess an overall GPA of 3.0 for admission.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the baccalaureate degree, candidates for the Intervention Specialist license are expected to:

  • Assess and evaluate students with exceptionalities;
  • Design instructional content for delivery to students with exceptionalities;
  • Plan and manage the behavior, social interactions, and learning environment of students with exceptionalities;
  • Collaborate in the delivery of services to students with exceptionalities;
  • Meet professional expectations for ethical practice in the delivery of services to students with exceptionalities, given the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of special education.
