Purpose
The international business specialization offers an internationally focused curriculum that is appropriate for careers in an increasingly global economy. Students are prepared for careers in multinational enterprises, smaller firms operating across borders, consulting firms that serve international companies, and public and nonprofit organizations that require an in-depth understanding of international business principles and practices.

Students gain knowledge of business disciplines from an international perspective and develop the following: ability to identify and analyze environmental and organizational factors that influence firms' international operations and strategy, ability to analyze and manage complex situations that arise in a global business environment, and cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity.

BSBA general degree requirements
Students completing the marketing specialization must complete University, general degree, admission core, and business core requirements for the BSBA degree, including admission to the BSBA program.

International Business specialization (21 hours) - Fall 2014 course requirements

Students take a comprehensive curriculum that includes international courses in business disciplines, foreign language, area studies and/or political economy, and a capstone course in management of international operations. Students may also earn academic credit through an approved education abroad program.

Students complete at least the intermediate level of a foreign language. Students who take the elementary-level courses in a foreign language (numbered 1010 and 1020) may count those credit hours toward as electives or toward BG Perspective requirements.

• Foreign language courses numbered 2010 and 2020 (may be counted toward BG Perspective requirements or toward electives)
• Grade of "C" or better in:
  
  • Two courses from: ECON 3510, FIN 4100, LEGS 4060, MKT 4550, BA 4390 (limited to 3 hours)
  • Three credit hours from BA 4910, 4920; CAST 2010; CHIN 2160; ECON 4520, 4540, 4720; FREN 3730, 3760; GEOG 2300; GERM 3160, 4160, 4210; ITAL 3710, 3720; RUSN 2160; SPAN 2700, 3770, 3780; or one foreign language course at the 3000 level or above (advanced language, rather than culture or civilization course)
  • BA 3900
  • BA 4400 (fourth year only)

Electives should be chosen in consultation with the student's advisor. Students are also encouraged to take additional courses in or complete a second BSBA specialization and/or a foreign language minor.
