Curriculog Frequently Asked Questions

Curriculog is software used to develop, review, and approve curriculum proposals. Anyone with access to the system can view where proposals are in the approval process. Curriculog is integrated with the catalog management system, Acalog.

All BGSU faculty and staff are granted access to originate a proposal in Curriculog. You can access the Curriculog system at the Curriculog login page. After clicking on the “Use the BGSU Curriculog Software” button at the bottom of the page, look for the login button in the upper right-hand corner. Use your SSO login credentials.

  • Click on the “+ New Proposal” button and select the appropriate form for the type of proposal you are developing. There are separate forms for undergraduate and graduate proposals. These include Course Change, Course New, Course Deletion, Program Change, Program New, Program Deletion, New Prefix & Item Type, and Graduate Certificates. Each approval form has its own approval route.
  • Be sure to save changes as you work on the proposal but do not validate and launch it until the proposal is ready to be submitted for approval.

The “Originator” is the individual who initiates the proposal. Only one originator is allowed. The status of “originator” cannot be changed or transferred to another individual once a proposal has been started.

An impact report shows prerequisites, corequisites, cross-listiings, and programs that are affected by the proposal. Use the report to identify the departments and programs that may be impacted by the proposal. Be sure to contact these departments and programs during the proposal development process and request a letter of support

Within your proposal, select the paper clip icon then you can upload the appropriate file(s). Files may include emails and letters of support from departments that may be affected by the proposal. For new courses or course modifications a syllabus would be included.

If you wish for your course to be available online (either entirely or sections of the course) please select yes. In addition, you will need to attach an online syllabus for OSAP review. Be sure to reach out and ask OSAP to review the syllabus while you are working on the proposal so you can incorporate their feedback before launching the proposal.

Make sure you have consulted with all key areas such as University Libraries, OSAP, Office of Academic Assessment, and all Departments affected before validating and launching the proposal. After launching, you (as the originator) must approve the proposal as you are the first in the workflow steps. After you approval your proposal, the proposal will move to the next step in the workflow.

The proposal can be edited by the user who is involved in the step that the proposal is currently on. Additionally, the proposal can be rejected and then returned to the Originator for edits.

Within the proposal toolbox, under User Tracking, select “View Original with Mark-Ups" from the drop-down menu.

Any rejected proposal will return to the Originator.

After you have launched your proposal, you (as the originator) must approve the proposal as you are the first step in the workflow. After you approve your proposal, the proposal will move to the next step in the workflow.

Workflow: Each proposal has a unique workflow based on the answers provided to certain form fields. When every step in the workflow has been approved, then the proposal is considered complete

Importing: Curriculog is linked to our catalog, Acalog. You can import the current course or program information into the proposal form and make your revisions.

Launching: Once the proposal form is complete, the proposal can be launched. Launching begins the workflow, starts track changes, and makes the proposal visible to all users in Curriculog.
