This is what current students are saying about the ACTION Summer Bridge program:

Summer Bridge gave me an opportunity to meet some of the people I will be with throughout my college experience. My best friends right now are people I met during Bridge and I don't know how I would have made it through my first year without their support. Bridge also familiarized me with the campus and I had no trouble finding my classes in the fall. I came from a very small school and walking into the large lecture halls was off-putting. However, I became more acclimated during the summer, which was important for my ability to focus during the regular school year.

Summer Bridge was a great way for me to familiarize myself with campus and the surrounding community.  I liked having the ability to work with many of the professors that I currently have now during the school year. Summer Bridge also gave me real life applications of math and science that I would not have normally received in a standard classroom environment. Getting to know some people before college actually started was a big plus. Summer Bridge was a fantastic experience.

I had a tough choice to make about my summer plans after high school graduation. Being in ACTION and attending the Summer Bridge was by far the best choice I've made at BGSU. Getting to know the campus, faculty, and other students before my first semester started made a huge impact in my successes and college experience!

The Summer Bridge program enabled me to acquire the sense of what college life was like before Fall Semester even began. It allowed me to acquire new friendships and feel comfortable with my way around campus, which placed me ahead of other BGSU students.

Summer Bridge really brought me out of my shell. I'm a shy person and being put into a situation where I didn’t know people seemed a bit daunting at first. But by the second day we were all friends. By the end of summer I'm sure none of us wanted to leave our tight knit group that had formed. It was amazing to be able to thrive in an environment where everyone is rooting for you to succeed.

Summer Bridge program was really awesome! It was nice getting a feel for campus before all the other students got here. Doing the low ropes course was one of my favorite things because the whole cohort bonded really well that day. This experience taught us leadership, problem solving, and trusting each other, sometimes with our lives! The Bridge was a great experience to meet new people and become an ACTION family! I wish I could do it every summer!

I was apprehensive to cut out a month of my last summer before college in order to go to school. But once I got to BGSU, I had so much fun, made so many great friends, and got a taste of the college life that made it all worth it. Summer Bridge helped ease me into college and calm any anxieties I had about classes and living away from home for the first time. It was great to build such good relationships with the people I'd be living with for the next several years on the ACTION floor in Offenhauer. I had an amazing experience and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
