ART 1030 – Observing and Inventing
How does practicing “attentiveness” help us discover new connections between what is observed, perceived, and invented? In these drawings, students engaged with varying degrees of control (e.g., sustained attentiveness for uncomfortably long periods of time; drawing newly perceived observed parts onto another student’s drawing; repeating smaller parts of the observed in new combinations to create “inventions” within the artwork; drawing with both hands and multiple tools simultaneously while responding to observed phenomena; etc.) In the spirit of experimentation throughout the whole process, students discovered their artworks along the way.
