Laura Rose
Visual Arts
Laura Rose is a first-year graduate student in the 3-D program at Bowling Green State University, focusing on Jewelry and Metals. Laura grew up in rural Northeastern Ohio, and has also lived in Spain, South Carolina, Chile, Argentina, South Korea, Portugal, Canada, Montana, Oregon and Texas.
Travel, a sense of place, and a means of connection to loved ones who are distant is fundamental to Rose’s work, which often incorporates found objects as a point of departure. Laura is interested in the relationship between jewelry and the wearer, and in the relationship between the wearer and the viewer. In Hestia and Magma, two works selected for this exhibition, she continues to explore the potential of jewelry as talisman.
