ART 1120 – Get Physical with Fibers
Students explored twisting torsion, extension, and compression, while playing with the physical properties of fibers. Each started by making 10 small paper sculptures of abstracted details from common objects they found. Ideas were sparked and researched. Parts were then translated into stuffed or braided or twisted or pleated or sewn bits and combined and re-combined. In the spirit of experimentation throughout the whole process, students discovered their artworks along the way.
