BGSU to host State of the Region Conference on March 2
The Center for Regional Development at Bowling Green State University will examine robotics and artificial intelligence at the 18th annual State of the Region Conference March 2. The conference theme is “Developing Tomorrow’s Workforce by Embracing and Investing in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence.”
The conference, held at the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons in Perrysburg, will begin with networking and breakfast at 8 a.m., followed by opening remarks by BGSU President Rodney K. Rogers and Ohio State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari (R., Perrysburg). Guhan Venkatu, group vice president, Regional Analysis and Outreach, of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and Russell W. Mills, Ph.D., senior director of the Center for Regional Development, will give a state of the region address at 9:15 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., Molly G. Martin, director of New America Indianapolis, will give the keynote address.
At 11:15 a.m., Jennie Gallimore, Ph.D., dean of the BGSU College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, will moderate the panel, “Positioning Ohio to be a Leader in Robotics and AI.” Panelists include Ari Lewis, co-founder of OhioX; Nathan Spoden, founder and chief operating officer of MedPilot; and Scott Lang, president of Motion Controls Robotics.

Broadway ‘Hamilton’ actor Bryan Terrell Clark to visit BGSU Firelands
“Hamilton” actor Bryan Terrell Clark will present “Finding Your Purpose: From Baltimore to Broadway’s Hamilton” at 7 p.m. March 11 at BGSU Firelands’ McBride Auditorium, North Building. An actor and singer-songwriter, Clark is known best for his starring role as George Washington in “Hamilton: An American Musical” on Broadway.
Clark’s presentation features stories from his life as well as performances of songs from “Hamilton” and some original material. He will be joined during his visit by members of the Caryl Crane Youth Theatre to perform an acapella medley of songs featured throughout his career. The award-winning student theatre company, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2020, continues BGSU Firelands’ commitment to access to the performing arts through a no-cost community outreach program to underserved students in the region.
