BGSU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS NAMED AMONG NATION’S TOP 50 BUSINESS PROGRAMS

The Bowling Green State University College of Business has been named among the nation’s top 50 business programs by Poets&Quants for Undergrads.

The online publication for undergraduate business education news unveiled its second Best Undergraduate Business Programs on Dec. 5. BGSU’s College of Business, in its first appearance on the list, ranks No. 47 overall, No. 24 among public institutions and second among Ohio's public universities.

President Mary Ellen Mazey emphasized the University’s dedication to student success and to transforming lives.

“In the College of Business, our faculty and staff are preparing the next generation of business leaders through education, research and service," she said. "We are proud to join Poets&Quants' annual ranking.”

Poets&Quants for Undergrads compiled the 2017 exclusive ranking from school-reported data and a representative survey of more than 6,000 recent graduates. Alumni were surveyed on admissions standards, academic experience and employment placement.

BGSU BASKETBALL TEAMS OFF TO STRONG STARTS THIS SEASON

The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team is off to a hot start this season as the Falcons have compiled a 7-3 record through the first 10 games of the season, and the women’s basketball team defeated Xavier 63-53 Dec. 6 at the Stroh Center to improve to 7-1 on the season.

BGSU is working through its nonconference schedule, which includes victories over Drexel, South Dakota, Florida Gulf Coast and San Jose State. The Falcons finish out their nonconference schedule with visits to Old Dominion and Green Bay before hosting Lourdes at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Stroh Center. The Mid-American Conference schedule starts Jan. 2, when BGSU plays host to Miami at 7 p.m.

Measuring up against nonconference foes is an important step for Coach Michael Huger’s young team, he said.

“All of our nonconference games are preparing us for MAC play,” Huger said. “A lot of our guys are freshmen and they don’t know what it’s like yet. That’s the ultimate goal right now — to get ready for the MAC.”

HELP UNITED WAY WITH NORTHWEST OHIO COMMUNITY SHARES CAMPAIGN FINISH STRONG

The annual BGSU United Way with Northwest Ohio Community Shares campaign is entering its final weeks and needs the support of the University community to meet its $80,000 goal. With faculty, staff and retirees’ help, many lives in Bowling Green and Wood County can be touched.

Donors may direct their gift to either United Way or Northwest Ohio Community Shares. They may also target any participating agency or organization, or write in any local nonprofit health and human service agency that does not appear in the list. A variety of choices are available for making gifts, including payroll deduction. The campaign website also offers a downloadable print pledge form, or donors may make online pledges using the email sent to the University community Oct. 2.

A gift of any size will help in the community, said 2017 campaign chair Jodi Webb, associate vice president for student affairs.
