Chancellor visits BGSU | Changes to Business, Campus Operations

BGSU welcomes Chancellor Carey

Ohio Department of Higher Education Chancellor John Carey visited the University July 15 to discuss provisions of the new biennial state budget and some of the governor and legislature's initiatives aimed at holding down costs for students. Also joining the chancellor was Ohio Sen. Randy Gardner.

President Mary Ellen Mazey and other administrators accompanied the chancellor on a tour of some of BGSU's newer public-private partnerships, including the BG Flight Center, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation facility and the Falcon Health Center, along with the renovated Student Recreation Center.

Business, Campus Operations reorganized, moving

The offices of Business Operations and Campus Operations are undergoing a bit of reorganization in conjunction with a physical move for some offices.

Surplus Properties and Warehousing (formerly part of Business Operations) are now part of Campus Operations, along with Campus Services.

Purchasing, Postal Services, Asset Disposal and the BG1 Card office remain under Business Operations.

"It makes better business and logistical sense," said Andrew Grant, director of business operations.

OBITUARIES
Stefania Frank, 92, an associate professor emeritus of German and Russian and Romance languages, died July 7 in Bowling Green. The former director of the Language Lab, she taught at BGSU from 1965-85. View funeral arrangements.

Ruth Constance Varney, 91, died July 13 in Bowling Green. A speech therapist, she supervised students in the BGSU speech-pathology program in 1978-79. She was the wife of Dr. Glenn Varney, professor emeritus of management, and mother of Janice Varney-McKnight, academic operations.
