A Final Message from the President

It has been my honor to serve as your president. I announced last week that I will be stepping down from my role on December 31. In 2011, I was drawn to this University because of its strong tradition of excellence. Since then, I have been fortunate to be a part of the BGSU community.
Together, we have stayed true to the University's mission, while ensuring the brightest days are yet to come. We have positioned BGSU to be a leader for the next 100 years as enrollment has grown, facilities have improved and private funding has increased. We have strengthened and created partnerships, raised our academic profile, and fostered a proud Falcon Family. This last issue of Mazey@BGSU highlights our accomplishments.
One of the greatest joys of being president was learning how BGSU alumni change lives for the world. This spirit of innovation will continue, and it is my priority to assist with the University's comprehensive fundraising campaign and help with the transition to my successor.
As I reflect on the journey that led me to BGSU, I am brought back to my upbringing. As a young girl from a small town, attending a four-room schoolhouse in rural West Virginia, I only could imagine the opportunities that education would provide to me. BGSU offers a welcoming environment to many first-generation college students like me. Each day, we put students first because education is the key to success and achieving the American Dream.
My heartfelt thanks to BGSU for allowing me to serve as your president. This memorable journey will hold a special place in my heart forever. As I look ahead to this new chapter in my life, I will remember the dedication and love of our community and will always be a Falcon!
Regards,
Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
