A Message from the President
We are just weeks away from the end of the fall semester, and November marked another exciting month for BGSU!

We hosted J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy, our 2017-18 Common Reading, on campus this week. His lecture reminded me of the determination and drive needed for success. This semester, our students learned about key themes in Vance’s novel – the importance of grit, resilience and persistence.

Though BGSU and the University of Toledo are fierce competitors when it comes to athletics, we work together to serve our students and the region. We recently announced a collaboration in foreign language education that will expand opportunities for our students, while reducing duplicative academic programs.

Our student-athletes are led by first-class coaches. Both women’s soccer coach Matt Fannon and women’s volleyball coach Danijela Tomic were each recognized by the Mid-American Conference as Coach of the Year! We are also proud of several of their standout student-athletes who received honors from the MAC. Ay Ziggy!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to share my appreciation for being a part of the Falcon Family! Our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends make BGSU so special, and because of you, this great University will continue to change lives for the world.

Regards,
Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
