The new year started with national recognition for BGSU at the NCAA convention in Nashville, Tenn. BGSU athletics and student organization We Are One Team received the 2017 Award for Diversity and Inclusion presented by the NCAA in partnership with the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association.
More than 1,000 students, faculty and staff participated in the
2017 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service! Falcons showed their commitment to Dr. King's dream through their service
and civic activities.
BGSU faculty shape the lives of tomorrow's leaders inside the classroom and
through innovative research. Drs. Wendy Manning, Distinguished Research
Professor of Sociology; Peggy Giordano, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of
Sociology; and Monica Longmore, professor of sociology, recently
received $2 million in grants to expand the impact of our Center for
Family and Demographic Research.
Congratulations to our cheerleading team on placing third at the Universal
Cheerleaders Association National Championship! The competition included
colleges and universities across the nation, and the Falcons won the
bronze!
U.S. News and World Report recently issued its rankings for online
programs. Three BGSU programs earned top honors, including our
online criminal justice master's program, which
ranked eighth, up two spots from 2016!

The music man Bill Schurk ’66
For the past 50 years, Bill Schurk ’66 has left his mark on BGSU. Through his careful curation and subject expertise, BGSU’s Music Library and Sound Recordings Archives have come to reflect his expertise and knowledge. In recognition of his lifetime giving, the Board of Trustees approved naming the collection the Bill Schurk Sound Archives in his honor.
