As we begin 2017, it's a great time to reflect on the past year at BGSU! This issue of Mazey@BGSU focuses on our accomplishments and the stories that defined 2016.
Last month, I shared a special occasion with 1,002 students as they
graduated and officially became BGSU alumni. Special thanks to our
commencement speakers
Mark Sirower '83
and
D.C. Crenshaw '91
for sharing their BGSU stories and life lessons. Throughout the
weekend, students shared their favorite "Falcon Moments" with us.
This past year marked a significant investment in facilities on our two
campuses. Two alumni, Michael Kuhlin '68 and Scott Slater '73, commited to building a better future for BGSU, and we honored them
with the namings of the Michael & Sara
Kuhlin Center
and the
Slater Family Ice Arena!
Every week, we share memorable stories on the BGSU homepage highlighting
our students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends. Whether it's a
Class of 2020 student preparing to attend BGSU
and leave her hometown of Birmingham, Ala., or a
recent graduate pioneering her career at YouTube, Falcons change lives.
Emily Suver and her family were chosen as the
2016 Falcon Family of the Year. Her inspirational story of hard work and determination are hallmarks of
our students at BGSU. We are fortunate to have Emily as a student, and we
are so proud of her.
Next month, BGSU will celebrate 50 years at the Slater Family Ice Arena.
This special weekend is filled with events to recognize the history of the
facility and its important role at the University and in the city of
Bowling Green.
