It's been an outstanding summer, and the fall semester begins in less than a month! In August, we will host our summer commencement, celebrating the accomplishments of those graduating. We will also welcome returning and new students, including the 2016 Sidney A. Ribeau President's Leadership Academy cohort, for a successful academic year.
In October, thousands of Falcons will return to campus to celebrate Homecoming. Registration is now open and event schedules will be
continually updated. Join us as activities start September 30!
Brooke Pleger '15
placed eighth in the hammer throw at the U.S. Olympic Trials
this month. A three-time, first-team All-American, Pleger is only the second female track and field athlete from Bowling Green to compete at the U.S.
Olympic Trials. Though her career has concluded, BGSU is very proud of everything that she's accomplished!
During this election season, Falcons have taken the national stage. Special congratulations to student Abby Paskvan who performed the "The Star Spangled
Banner" at the Republican National Convention and Sharon Belkofer, mother of Lt. Col. Thomas Belkofer '92, who introduced President Obama at the Democratic
National Convention. Lt. Col. Belkofer was killed in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2010 when a Taliban suicide bomber targeted his NATO convoy.
The Falcon Family is what makes this University so special. Annually, BGSU recognizes one family and their story. Nominate them for the 2016 Falcon Family of the Year Award today!
Preparations for Bravo! BGSU are underway. Join us for a memorable
night to support the arts on April 1, 2017, in The Wolfe Center for the Arts.
Next month, I will share some highlights from commencement and opening weekend. It's an exciting time to be a Falcon!
Regards,
Mary Ellen Mazey, Ph.D.
