Greetings from the College of Business!

The College of Business just concluded another highly successful academic year with many great accomplishments.
Here are a few examples:

• The BGSU Sales Team captured second place at the University of Toledo Invitational Sales Competition
• Dr. Earl McKinney, MIS professor, was selected as a Fulbright Scholar
• Students Josh Wolpert and Stephanie Stile finished in first and second place, respectively, at the Ball State Sales Competition
• The BGSU supply chain team placed first at the GM/Wayne State Case Competition
• Zach Durliat was named the 2020 Karl Vogt Outstanding Senior
• Dr. Sherry Sullivan, professor of management, was recognized as a Distinguished Research Professor by the BGSU Board of Trustees
• Gabriel Sayer finished in sixth place in the worldwide business simulation competition, Capsim

Our faculty and students responded very well to the pandemic, making the transition to online learning as smooth as possible. I am proud of the strong finish to spring semester by our faculty, staff and students. We celebrated many highly prepared graduates leaving BGSU in May with their degrees. While commencement for the graduating seniors has been delayed, a virtual celebration was held on May 16.

The Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center is slightly behind schedule due to pandemic-related delays; however, the Maurer Center is scheduled to be completed before the start of school in August. The grand opening of the Maurer Center is Saturday, Sept. 12. The College is planning College of Business Week for Sept. 9-12, featuring some of the postponed Entrepreneurship Week events and culminating with the opening of the Maurer Center.

We look forward to welcoming the incoming freshman class this fall. Enjoy your summer, and I look forward to seeing you on campus!

College of Business Hosts Virtual Insider’s Update

The College of Business gave an insider's look at the transition to remote learning for alumni and friends of the college during a virtual gathering this spring. Dean Ray Braun addressed a number of topics on many people’s minds, from financial outlook and enrollment to fall classes and events. Participants were also able to hear from the perspective of faculty and students, who shared how the pandemic was impacting the final weeks of the semester.

College of Business to Welcome New Associate Dean Dr. Janet Hartley

Next month, the College of Business will welcome Dr. Janet Hartley as its new associate dean of graduate programs, faculty affairs, budgeting and research. Hartley, who officially assumes her role July 1, replaces Dr. Arthur Yeh, who is returning as faculty to the Applied Statistics and Operations Research (ASOR) Department.
