Chuck teaches Effective Business Communication at the Schmidthorst College of Business. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1995 and his Master of Business Administration degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1989.  Chuck obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Defiance College in 1986, where he majored in both Business Administration and Criminal Justice.

Prior to joining the faculty at BGSU, Chuck was most recently a trial attorney with the Toledo-based law firm of Eastman & Smith Ltd. for more than 25 years. During his legal career, Chuck was lead counsel in multiple cases argued before the Ohio Supreme Court and was repeatedly successful in persuading the United States Supreme Court to deny discretionary jurisdiction appeals in other cases.  Chuck’s litigation experience included numerous contract and business litigation matters, insurance coverage and defense disputes, probate litigation, and other cases.

Prior to joining Eastman & Smith Ltd., Chuck was a Financial Analyst with Electronic Data Systems, a computer services firm with operations worldwide.  Chuck assisted EDS with inventory and lease contract reconciliations for its government operations and provided costing analysis for new services proposals for its customer General Motors Corporation.  For two years, Chuck was assigned to live and work in Seoul, Korea, working with EDS’ joint-venture operation with Goldstar Electronics to ensure accounting and performance reports conformed to United States generally accepted accounting principles.

Chuck also served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for the Defiance County Juvenile Court, overseeing a caseload of clients and performing investigations for proposed adoptions.
