Student Experiences
Kody Korbas: Spain, Summer 2017
“Being immersed in a completely different culture was an incredible learning experience. It taught me to appreciate diversity and the differences that some cultures have. My Spain trip also helped me realize that change is good, whether it be in the workplace, in your life, or whatever it may be. Being open to change allows you to expand your horizons, while also opening you up to new experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime. So, why should you study abroad? Where do I start!? The main reason I advocate for education abroad is because this has indeed been one of the most fulfilling life experiences I have had thus far in my life. When life gives you cliffs, jump! You will never know what you would have missed if you do not partake in amazing, life-changing experiences such as this one, and this experience is something that you will keep with you forever.”
Caroline Flaesgarten: University of Strasbourg, France - AY 2016-17
“Education Abroad helped me grow personally by helping me further discover my independence. This education abroad experience helped me grow academically because I got to learn about things that interest me. Lastly, education abroad helped me grow professionally, because it helped me build my network and connect with students from all over the world. It is a once in a lifetime experience that you will create so many memories and lifelong friendships. You will learn so much about yourself, your host country/culture, your own country and culture and the world. I know if you don’t study abroad now you will regret missing this amazing opportunity.”
Cole Highhouse: Hong Kong Baptist University, Spring 2018
“My experience on exchange has given me a unique perspective on values held outside of America that I believe will give me an advantage and set me apart from others in my future career. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to spend a semester in Hong Kong and I’m thankful for everything I’ve been able to gain and the friendships and bonds I made. Traveling doesn’t have to be expensive, especially visiting somewhere like Southeast Asia. I urge everyone to look for opportunities to expand themselves out of the bubbles that we form around ourselves.”
