During the presentation, Bills shared a football signed by Ohio National Guard soldiers while in Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Afghanistan. The football was part of a care package sent to Bills while he was deployed in Afghanistan.

That’s because the Falcon Flight Team was one of five schools participating in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) Region III competition at the BG Flight Center and Wood County Airport.

  • A warm, Falcon welcome Jul 28, 2016 11:12 AM Sharon Belkofer, a member of the Falcon Family, introduced President Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. Belkofer’s son Lt. Col. Thomas Belkofer, a 1992 BGSU alumnus, was killed in Kabul, Afghanistan, in 2010 when a Taliban suicide bomber targeted his NATO convoy.

  • International destination Jun 20, 2016 7:00 AM Abdoulie Jaiteh discovered Bowling Green State University through a simple internet search. That may be how Jaiteh, Class of 2017, arrived at Bowling Green from Gambia, Africa, but the individual attention he’s received from faculty and many leadership opportunities on campus are what has kept him at BGSU.

  • Master of Architecture’s first class graduates Jun 6, 2016 9:56 AM Sean J. Bostater, Shilpa Mehta, Timur Rashidovich Valiulin, James Alexander Wilson and Matt Zix are the first students to have master’s degrees of architecture from Bowling Green State University. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) has granted BGSU's Department of Architecture and Environmental Design continuing candidacy for its Master of Architecture professional degree.

  • Air Superiority Jun 6, 2016 7:00 AM The Bowling Green Flight Center added five new aircraft, all Piper Warriors, for BGSU Aviation students to pilot. Three of the Warriors are brand-new models purchased directly from the manufacturer, Piper Aircraft. The BG Flight Center also purchased a 2006 model and a 2002 model and completely refurbished them from tip to tail.

  • Iron workers May 30, 2016 7:00 AM BGSU alumnus Mike Bishop works with the College of Technology, Architecture & Applied Engineering to create and patent a better golf club. Four BGSU seniors in their capstone class in mechanical design have aided his effort to build an iron that surpasses current market offerings.

  • Fifteen faculty receive emeritus status May 18, 2016 2:45 PM The Board of Trustees granted emeritus status to 15 retired or retiring faculty members on May 6. Emeritus status is conferred in recognition of distinguished service to the University. Individuals must have been at the University for at least 10 years and been recommended by their department for the designation.

  • Carver, Strickland honored for selfless leadership, service May 18, 2016 2:00 PM Classified Staff Council presented Outstanding Service Awards to Terry Carver, an administrative secretary in the Division of Recreation and Wellness, and Kim Strickland, a senior fiscal coordinator in the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering. Each received a $1,000 check and a plaque bearing her name.

  • Class of 2016 Success Stories: Feeling at home at BGSU May 16, 2016 7:00 AM Yogitha Malkireddy transferred to Bowling Green State University to major in electronics and computer engineering technology. Not only did Malkireddy graduate from the College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering, but she was able to get acclimated to American culture along the way.

His patients' injuries stem from military accidents, gunshot wounds, car accidents, and strokes and Kaplan is using 3D printing to enhance their therapy.

  • Board approves faculty contract, administrative fees May 6, 2016 4:03 PM The BGSU Board of Trustees on May 6 approved the next collective bargaining agreement with the BGSU Faculty Association along with new administrative fees for two colleges and the naming of the renovated South Hall.

  • Faculty climb academic ladder with tenure, promotion May 6, 2016 4:02 PM The BGSU Board of Trustees acknowledged and celebrated the accomplishments of faculty from a number of colleges May 6 with the granting of promotions and for some, tenure. Thirteen were promoted to full professor, 15 received promotion to associate professor with tenure.

  • BGSU to hold commencement Friday, Saturday May 2, 2016 12:00 AM The University will celebrate its 285th graduation in three ceremonies in the Stroh Center Friday (May 6) and Saturday (May 7). The graduating class includes 2,287 candidates. Speaking will be alumni Maribeth Rahe, Dean Bresciani, Holly Horn, Jason “Jay” Crawford, and D. Craig Rathbun.

  • Class of 2015 Success Stories: Double major builds collaborations Aug 10, 2015 7:00 AM Douglas Furia from West Chester, Ohio, near Cincinnati, knew he wanted to study architectural engineering, but when it came to deciding between Bowling Green State University or the University of Cincinnati, he chose BGSU. Even though BGSU didn’t specially offer architectural engineering, it did offer architecture and environmental design, and construction management programs. BGSU also provided Furia more scholarship support than Cincinnati, so he decided to take double majors. He would learn the artistic and design background from architecture and the technical background from construction management.

At about the same time he retired from the Air Force in October 2013, he received a Bachelor of Science in Technology degree from BGSU, though he never stepped foot on the campus. His degree in learning design and technology (LDT) was done completely online and during times that were convenient for him to “attend classes.”

  • VCT: The Beginning Jun 30, 2014 7:00 AM Dr. William Travers Jerome III was a change agent when he arrived in 1963 as the sixth president of BGSU. For one of his initiatives, Jerome hired Dr. Jerry Streichler to lead a major effort to develop and implement curricula that would more truly reflect the technology (processes and organization) of various categories of industry. The goal was to replace the “shop teacher” education programs with curricula that would better prepare teachers for the schools and also prepare specialists to serve in leadership positions in diverse industries.

To honor the accomplishments of our recent alumni, the BGSU 10 Under 10 Award was established. The 2018 class was honored during Homecoming Oct. 12.

  • BGSU to hold commencement Dec. 13, 14 Bowling Green State University will celebrate its 296th graduation in two ceremonies at the Stroh Center Dec. 13 and Dec. 14. Alumnae addressing the candidates include Sheryl Maxfield ’81 and Laurie Stevenson ’88, who are both members of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s Cabinet. The December graduating class includes 1,047 candidates.
