My career journey began in the food service and childcare industries while double majoring in Anthropology and Folklore/Ethnomusicology. The ability to think and act quickly in fast-paced environments coupled with a passion for nurturing others’ growth and development enabled me to work as an English teacher in South Korea and Japan. My later work in non-profit fundraising refined my skills in interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and leadership. My recent Master of Arts in Cross-Cultural and International Education led me to pursue student-focused roles in higher education.

My career journey began working on-campus in the evenings and in the summer camp industry while studying Psychology. After graduating, I utilized my skills in relationship-building and problem-solving to start working in recruitment and nonprofits. These positions improved my communication, strategic planning, and relationship-building abilities. I leveraged this background to develop partnerships, drive career development initiatives, and coach students within higher education.

My career journey started in customer service roles while majoring in Studio Art and Liberal Studies. Exposure to all types of people, backgrounds and situations developed my communication, active listening, creative problem solving and mentoring skills. Attracted to the higher education setting and the opportunity to work with students led to student-centered positions at a private and public university.

My career journey started as a student-athlete and an on-campus student assistant worker while majoring in Strength and Conditioning. As a former student-athlete and graduate coach I gained valuable skills such as leadership, communication, active listening, adaptability, organization, evaluation, supervision, management, teamwork, collaboration, program design, mentoring, customer service, and recruitment. These experiences in athletics and working with student-athletes opened the door to a career in higher education.

My role as an Intervention Specialist helped me develop my skills in presenting, leading, and cross-cultural needs. After a career pivot, my experiences in the insurance and financial service industries strengthened my management, communication, innovation, and customer service competencies, which all led me to higher education.

During and after my academic journey, I gained a variety of experiences within student affairs and nonprofits, further sparking my passion for student-centered roles in higher education.
