Borrowing

Audio/Video Reserves
Streaming audio and video reserves are available 24/7.
Students: If you are enrolled in a course that has streaming audio or video reserves, you will be able to see your course reserves when you log into Avalon.
Faculty: Please submit your reserve requests to Trinidad Linares.
On-Site Listening
The Frank and Virginia Crawford Listening Center features listening and viewing stations, which can accommodate LPs, 45s, CDs, VHS tapes and DVDs. Patrons using the Listening Center must present their current university ID card or a photo ID.
Photo & Document Reproduction
In most cases, we are able to provide scans of non-circulating material from our Sound Archive, in accordance with the Special Collections Reproduction and Licensing Fee Schedule.
Making Copies of Recordings for Classroom Use
Streaming access to archival audio and video recordings for use in classroom presentations may be requested by email. Please include the title, artist, track name(s), and call number of the item. Recordings must be requested at least one week in advance; some requests may be restricted by United States Copyright Law (Title 17).

Our recording rooms are temporarily closed. If you are in need of digitization services, please contact us.
Course Reserves
Please direct reserve requests and questions to Trinidad Linares. Requests will be processed in the order they are received. Please allow for a minimum of one week for processing; more time may be necessary at the beginnings of semesters. You can find items on reserve by searching the library catalog by instructor name or course number. More About Course Reserves
Research Assistance
The Music Library staff is happy to assist all local or distance library users with their research needs and locating materials within the library. Please contact us by email, or utilize our Chat service.
Tours, Presentations, and Classroom Instruction
Library staff provide a range of like information literacy instruction, research consultations, tours of the archives, and research guides. Contact us for more information or scheduling options.
Requests for Purchases
Requests to purchase materials for the Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives are encouraged. Please e-mail or talk to any MLBSSA staff member. If an item is difficult to find, please let us know any information you might already have about its purchase.
