Mandatory Faculty and Staff Training

The annual training courses for BGSU faculty and staff are now available. In an effort to streamline required annual trainings for faculty and staff, the Division of Community Well-Being, the Office of Human Resources and the Office of General Counsel require all employees to complete the following courses by Nov. 27, 2024.

Please note that courses completed prior to September 2024 fulfilled the annual compliance requirement for the previous year. Completion of these courses before Nov. 27, 2024 fulfills the annual training compliance for this year.

Verification of completion will be documented in the Bridge system. You will not need to submit a certificate of completion but will have the opportunity to print one off if you wish.

Descriptions of courses required by each department, who to contact with questions and additional information is available below.

Complete the training courses by Nov. 27, 2024

Division of Community Well-Being

Anti-Hazing: University Policy, State Law and Reporting Requirements Training

This course provides a brief overview of the University’s Anti-Hazing Policy and state anti-hazing law. It outlines the requirements and mechanisms to report hazing to appropriate University officials and law enforcement.

If you have questions regarding anti-hazing training, please email the Division of Community Well-Being at wellbeing@bgsu.edu.

Office of Human Resources

Discrimination and Sexual Misconduct Trainings

Two of the three courses below are required by the Office of Human Resources and are not able to be replaced or substituted by any other training offerings on campus.

This annually required training will include the following:

Faculty and staff (all employees - excluding supervisors)

Mosaic: Prevent Discrimination and Harassment Together

Will provide an overview of the law on harassment, preventing retaliation by managers and preventing unlawful discrimination. This will help you recognize and prevent unlawful harassment and retaliation as they occur in educational settings. You will have multiple opportunities to check your mastery of key concepts.

Supervisors only

Mosaic: Prevent Discrimination and Harassment Together

If you are a supervisor, please take this course instead of the faculty and staff version listed above.

Faculty, staff and supervisors (all employees)

Mosaic: Prevent Sexual Violence Together

Explores the Campus SaVE Act, which is a federal law affecting students and professionals working for a college or university. You will learn how to recognize and prevent incidents of sexual violence and receive a compliance resource guide. All faculty and staff, whether in a supervisory role or not, are required to complete this version of the training.

If you have questions regarding a discrimination and sexual misconduct training, please email Suzi Saunders-O’Herron at smsaund@bgsu.edu or call 419-372-2126.

Office of General Counsel

Ohio Ethics Law Training

Under a directive from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, all public employees (including faculty) are required to complete an annual Ohio Ethics Law training. The Ohio Ethics Commission has prepared an e-course to assist public employees across the state in gaining a practical understanding of the prohibitions related to conflicts of interest, nepotism, acceptance of gifts and selling goods or services to one’s own public employer.

If you have questions regarding Ohio Ethics Law Training, please email Katelynn Ross at kmross@bgsu.edu or call 419-372-0464.
