Supply Chain Careers
The average starting salary for BGSU supply chain graduates is $50,000 and many receive multiple job offers. You might go to work for one of the BGSU Supply Management Institute member companies.
Entry level positions focus on activities such as:
- Planning: Ensuring employees, materials, and equipment are available at the right time to serve customers
- Sourcing: Purchasing goods and services, negotiating, and building strategic supplier relationships
- Making: Scheduling operations, managing inventory, and supervising a work team
- Delivering: Building customer relationships, and managing logistics including distribution and transportation
Some companies offer leadership development programs in which you work in several of these supply chain areas during your first two or three years.

I schedule transport trucks to deliver fuel to Speedway Convenience Stores in Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana. The job is very fast pace and challenging with no day being the same as the last. I work the night shift from 5pm to 5am and the time flies by.

Internships
Paid internships will help you to explore a career in supply chain management. Over 85% of BGSU Supply Chain students complete an internship. Honda, John Deere, Marathon Petroleum, Owens Corning, and Owens Illinois and many other companies recruit on-campus for supply chain interns.

Program Reputation
The supply chain program at BGSU is highly regarded. BGSU supply chain graduates are senior executives in firms such as Bechtel, CACI, Cooper Tire & Rubber, Diebold, GAP Inc., GE Lighting, Honda, Husqvarna, Huntington Bank, Microsoft, Scotts Miracle-Gro, and Swagelok.
The student Supply Chain Management Association, is one of the top 10 APICS student chapters. Students also receive national awards from APICS and ISM.
BGSU students Katie Post and Alex Shock received 2014 R. Gene Richter Scholarships sponsored by the Institute for Supply Management.
2014 BGSU Graduate Beth Albers was presented the 2013 APICS Student Voluntary Service Award at the APICS International Conference. Ms. Albers also was a 2013 recipient of the R. Gene Richer Scholarship.
Scholarships
BGSU SCM students are awarded over $30,000 in scholarship each year thanks in large part to the Supply Chain Management Institute member companies, NAPM Toledo, APICS Toledo, and the generosity of alumni. The scholarship application process begins in the spring semester.
Courses:
There are six required courses.
In addition, a specialization in supply chain management can compliment other areas especially international business.
