Visual Communication Technology
The visual communication technology (VCT) bachelor's degree at BGSU – an innovative program for students interested in visual media – is one of the most unique programs in the country. Our educational approach is progressive and successful. We have thousands of graduates in diverse positions across the country.
The world communicates visually. As emerging media – including augmented and virtual reality – enter the mainstream, visual communication technology students are poised to command a field that is well rewarded and fun to work in.
You will learn creative and technical problem-solving across all the disciplines of visual media – digital, photography, video, print and interactive media. The ability to focus on the message and deliver it in any medium is a valuable skill.
All VCT students complete two paid co-op experiences that often lead to full-time jobs.

Curriculum
All visual communication technology students complete introductory coursework in print, design, photography, video and interactive multimedia. Students then work with their mentors to choose a career track in one or two of the visual media areas. Some students choose a minor in areas such as marketing or entrepreneurship.
Students are required to complete two semester-long, paid co-ops.

The visual communication technology program is part of the Department of Applied Technology in the School of Engineering in the BGSU College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering.
Accreditation
The visual communication technology program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE) and is in good standing.
Bowling Green State University [BGSU] is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. BGSU has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 01/01/1916. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was received in 2022-2023, with our next reaffirmation of accreditation scheduled for 2032-2033.
