Part-Time Studies
Taking courses on a part-time basis can be done informally with "guest student status" or toward the pursuit of a formalized program. In-person graduate courses are conveniently offered in the evenings from 6-9pm, and there is an on-line course offered each Fall and Spring semester. Summer options include two courses offered during a July-term on our Spain campus and the possibility of on-line coursework.
Part-time graduate options include:
- 18-credit Spanish Certificate for Professionals and Educators
Graduate Certificates are productive options for students in complementary programs seeking to add Spanish coursework to their major field of studies. In addition, the Certificate will allow working professionals to advance their content knowledge and language skills. Coursework is based on "content" in the broad field of Spanish studies, including the study of linguistics, cultural studies and literature from Spain and Latin America. Coursework in these fields improves skills that are highly valued for educators: general knowledge of the Spanish-speaking world, critical thinking, textual analysis, and advanced writing.
Many teachers have used their completion of BGSU's Spanish Certificate to pursue credentialing for teaching College Credit Plus (CCP) courses to high school students.
